A Giveaway - Playing Santa

HO HO HO Christmas is around the corner and I am playing Santa - a giveaway @ BON APPETIT for two (2) readers of a book I cherish. The book is neither a cook book nor a guide on food photography; in fact it has nothing to do with kitchen or cooking! Rather it is one of those treasures that I go back to all the time.

If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.
Oscar Wilde

The Ultimate Gift is one of the very first books my hubby gifted to me after marriage and I cherish the book dearly . It is entertaining as well as a feel-good read that forces you to reflect and enjoy  the finer things in life.

Unfortunately as I am unable to ship it internationally at this point in time, the giveaway is open to anyone who has a valid Indian address for receiving the book.

  13. hey Priya ! Lovely event..
While cookbooks take most of my shelf space these days, nothing like a mushy romantic fiction or even thrillers from the stable of Grisham or those of Agatha Christie would please me better :-) But one of my all time favourite remains "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk" . I am based out of Mumbai and can be reached at momchef77@gmail.com

  17. Priya,it is kind of you to have this giveaway.:-)
    1. Even though I love reading cookery/recipe books,I am a big fan of novels - the scary ones especially, hehe.Apart from them, one of the good reads has been 'Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul'.I remember reading the book a few years back,it has touching stories of real people(Teenagers),their love, crushes, heartbreaks, loss of loved ones, friendships and so on.Somewhere it makes one realize that he is not alone in the 'at times difficult' journey of life.:-)
    2. If I win,the book has to be sent to New Delhi, please.
    3. My email is the.mystery.aura@gmail.com

    Have a nice day,Priya!:)

  18. I love books. I especially love to read all the Chicken soup for souls series. I have found solace, comfort, guidance from many of those real life stories. Many times it has made the choices easier for me and helped me to live with my choices peacefully too.

  19. This place is not enough to list out all my favorite books :). But let me start off with Gone with the Wind,Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, James Herriot series, Harry Potter series, The Lord of the Rings, The God Father,
To Kill a Mocking Bird, Forever Amber, Sherlock Holmes collection, Poirot collection, Bridget Jones I&II. The list is endless, but now its mostly 'Hershey's best Loved Recipes' and other cook books. I am in Chennai.

  20. My Favorite book is "Bridges of Madison County" by Robert James Waller for a couple of reasons, first I am an eternal romantic and a sucker for love stories, second, in the book, although madly in love, "Francesca" chooses not to abandon her children and stay on in a loveless marriage. As idealistic as it appears, that is exactly what I would do, once you are a good mother, you can't be anything else! I hope it wasn't mandatory to name a cookbook because I rarely read one, I get inspiration from all you wonderful bloggers! I would want the book to be sent to Ahmedabad for my mother.

  23. Hi Priya,

    Nice give away.

I read both English and Tamil which includes biography, fiction, literature and magazines. Among which PONNIYIN SELVAN by Kalki Krishnamurthy is my favorite book. Whenever I read the book, I live my life with the characters from the book. yes, you meet each character instead just konwing them as character.

Kalki's way of narrating the story pulls you to the historical century and you can visualize everything. It is possible only with the power of writing and Kalki had it. Very intereting story about chola(It includes politics, romance, clever, brave personality, women at all extremes, friendship, intrigue and maily the suspense) which can be enjoyed by anyone at anytime. Thought it has >1000 pages, I bet you never keep the book down if you start reading it.

    Cheers,
    Uma
