Herbed Rice Straws

This week i am trying out so many gems from my list of bookmarked recipes. I am amazed at how so many people put their heart n soul in to creating some truly wonderful dishes. One such space is Priya's Easy n Tasty Recipes. I tried her Herbed Brown Rice Straws, only thing is i used White Rice flour instead of Brown Rice flour. Also in the herbs i substitued celery leaves instead of the parsley leaves she used. I also added a little carom seeds to further intensify the taste.  But it came out so well and my daughter just loved it. Making a second batch soon !!

Here's how:-
  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • All purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Herbs (chopped coriander leaves, curryleaves & celery leaves) - 2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Carom seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Butter (melted) - 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Olive oil - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
Method :-

Grind the chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves and celery leaves roughly,

In a mixing bowl add  the rice flour, all purpose flour, coarse herb mix, pepper powder, cumin seeds, carom seeds , melted butter, olive oil , salt .

Gradually add enough water to make a soft and smooth dough. Keep aside for half an hour.

Preheat the oven to 175C.
Take a small ball of the dough, spread it out as a round disc dusting with little flour if necessary.

Cut the dough as strips, just twist the strips and arrange them in a  lightly greased baking tray

Bake for 15-20minutes until the crust turns golden brown.

Enjoy with cheese dip or any chutney or just much them away to glory !
