Paneer Cigar Rolls

Rainy Saturday afternoon and I itched for a cup of hot tea. Wanting to have something crispy to go along, I decided to make Paneer Cigar Rolls. This recipe was already on top of my to-do list from DK's Chef in You, and thanks to the rain god, one item was off my list!

Ingredients:-

For the Wrap
  • Refined Flour (Maida) - 1 big cup
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Water - as required
For the Filling
  • Paneer (cottage cheese) - 1cup
  • Onion - 1 medium size
  • Tomato - 1 medium size
  • Green Chillis - 2 to3 (to taste)
  • Garlic - 3 to 4 large pods
  • Coriander Leaves - a handful
  • Salt - to taste
  • Butter - a little
  • Grated Cheese - 1/2 cup
Method:-

Grate or crumble the Paneer and set aside. Finely chop onion, tomato, green chillis, garlic and coriander leaves.

In a kadai, add butter and stir fry all the ingredients for the filling, except paneer and cheese, till they are soft.

Now add paneer and saute for a few more minutes.

Take off the flame, add the grated cheese and mix well. The filling is ready for use.

For the wrap add flour, salt and required water. Knead the mix well with oil for a smooth and soft dough.

Take some quantity of the dough and roll it out to a large rectangle shape.

Further cut in to smaller rectangle strips. Take some filling and place it on one side of the rectangle.

Roll it, bring the edges of the side together and continue rolling till u reach the other side.

Apply a little water-flour mixture at the end to close and bind the roll. This looks like a cigar.

Continue the process till the dough is finished.

Deep fry them in hot oil till they are crispy and golden brown.

Enjoy it with ketchup/chilli sauce.

My hot cup of tea and paneer rolls sizzled up the mushy afternoon....

  5. It looks yum.. I was just reading all posts again today after our chat..and I think you should put the serving size (number of people) and time for preparation. It will help lazy people like me to decide which would be the fastest to cook :D
