Gooseberry Pickle (amla achaar / nellikai oorgai)
Again this is a very simple and tasty pickle.
Ingredients:-
- Gooseberries (250 gms)
- Red chillies - medium size (4-5 nos)
- Red Chilli Powder (15 gms)
- Salt (as per taste)
- Urad Dal (3-4 tsp)
- White Sesame seeds (3-4 tsp)
- Sesame Oil (25 ml)
Method:-
De-seed and cut the gooseberries in to small pieces.
Dry Roast urad dhal, white sesame seeds, red chillies and grind them in to a fine powder. Add red chilli powder and salt as per taste and mix well.
Add sesame oil and on a medium flame add the ground powder to the warm oil. Stir it for a few minutes. Now add this mix to the cut gooseberries.
Let the gooseberries be immersed in the oil. If oil is not enough add some more oil after warming up in the Kadai (skillet).
Gooseberry Pickle is Ready. Refrigerate it for a prolonged use.
