Pepper Crackers (Baked & Deep Fried)

Time just flies and how- Blog Hop Wenesdays , a fortnightly jump in to a fellow blogger's world is back with the new edition. It just seemed yesterday that I was exploring Vaishali's blog and making Double Ka Meetha and the event is back again with a huge bang ! The event, Radhika's brain child aims to bring the bloggers close by cooking each other's recipes and in the process connect!  This time around I was prowling Divya's Hearth @ Divya Z Easy Recipes. Check out her lovely space for a lot of kid friendly dishes explained in a lucid manner. My daughter's vacations are on and I decided to involve her for making these very simple but tasty Pepper Crackers from Divya's blog.

It was perfect for my little monkey to potter around with the sizes and shapes of these crackers/chips. The recipe was followed verbatim except that the sting of pepper in my recipe was a lot more sharper than mentioned. The crackers were baked as well as deep fried and I loved the healthy version better !

What's in it :-
  • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 175 grams
  • Butter - 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Baking powder -1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 2 to 3 tbsp - to taste
  • Salt to taste.
  • Water - as required
Here's How :-

Sieve the maida with baking powder and salt. Add pepper powder and butter mix well with the fingers. Add water little by little and knead the mix in to a fine dough. Let the dough rest for 5 - 10 min. Divide it in to equal parts and spread the dough in to flat bread (like u do for rotis/chapatis ) and cut it in square or diamond shape with a knife or use cookie cutters for shapes that suit your fancy.

Pre-heat the oven to 180 C. Arrange the cut pieces in the greased baking sheet and bake for 15min or till golden brown. Else deep fry them in oil for a more sinful edge of the crackers. Snack it anytime or enjoy it with your favourite cuppa !
