Pesarattu

A popular Andhra Dish, Pesarattu makes for a healthy and wholesome breakfast. It is basically Dosas/Pancakes made with a batter of Green Gram Dal. I add a handful or two of Urad Dal also. This is entirely optional. A very delightful and a different breakfast, Pesarattu can be had with Onion Tomato Chutney or any other chutney, Gun Powder or Pickle. I enjoyed the dish with Mango Thokku and it tasted divine.

Ingredients:-
  • Green Gram Dal (3 cups)
  • Urad Dal ( A handful or two---- optional)
  • Ginger ( A big piece)
  • Green Chillis (2-3)
  • Onions ( finely chopped ---- for garnishing)

For the Batter

Soak the Green Gram Dal and Urad Dal for 4-6 hours. Now grind it along with Ginger and Green Chillis with water to a fine Dosa Batter Consistency.

Method:-

Heat the Dosa Girdle/Tava  and when it is sufficeintly hot  pour little batter and spread it from the centre adding little oil  around. Now sprinkle the finely chopped onions on top of it and wait for it to become crispy golden at the bottom. When it is well cooked on the top, serve it hot with the accompaniments. No need to flip it over

Enjoy Tasty Pesarattus!!
